Bourbon Balls, or "Festive Tipsies"

4 ½ dozen

Melt the chocolate over hot (not boiling) water. Add the syrup and bourbon.

Combine and add to chocolate mixture, mixing well. Let stand 30 minutes. Form (roll with hands) in 1-inch balls. Roll in powdered sugar. Let "ripen" in covered container at least several days before serving.

For coffee flavor rather than chocolate, use ¼ cup instant coffee rather than chocolate.
