Spice Cake

2 layers, or 24 cupcakes

Cream the shortening and sugar together.

Add the eggs and the buttermilk with the soda in it.

Sift dry ingredients together and then add to the egg mixture, beating until smooth. Bake at 400° for 30 minutes.

Ice when cool.
Excellent with maple icing or coffee glaze.
